About The Timber Guy
The Timber Guy is a Durban-based timber supplier and wooden fencing contractor, providing quality materials and reliable workmanship for homes, gardens, and building projects. We’re passionate about helping our clients create outdoor spaces that are practical, durable, and built to las
Our Story
The Timber Guy was founded in 2016 by Alfie Theron, following a frustrating experience that many homeowners can relate to.
After having a timber fence installed at his home, Alfie quickly realised the materials used were not up to standard—the fence began rotting far sooner than it should have. It needed to be replaced, but after being retrenched from his position as a General Foreman in construction, finding a cost-effective solution became essential.
Determined to do it right the second time, Alfie began researching timber, visiting suppliers, and learning exactly what makes timber last. What he discovered was a gap in the market—homeowners were often overpaying for poor-quality materials, with little guidance on what they actually needed.
From that experience, The Timber Guy was born.
Today, we help homeowners, DIY enthusiasts, and contractors across Durban and surrounding areas access quality timber, honest advice, and practical solutions—without the unnecessary costs.
Because we believe building something that lasts shouldn’t be complicated… or overpriced.
